2003 Bonneville SSEi
Ok.... here's my dilemma. I NOW know I am supposed to run premium fuel in my car and I found out the hard way. I am currently running the vehicle without the SC belt on. my worry, short of leaving the belt off, is that I will blow a piston. I am wanting to know if I can adjust the boost to a lower level so as NOT to detonate a piston. is there an over sized pulley I can buy?

Re: 2003 Bonneville SSEi
Suck it up and pay the $3-4 more per fillup and buy premium... or sell the car.

If you don't drive it hard, it'll live on lower octane, but if you're like me, it's hard to resist every now and then. You could adjust the BCA or its stop so it doesn't close the wastegate all the way.

Just leave the belt off for the rest of the tank, run it as low as you can, than fill up with high octane. Then, to be safe, just take it easy, and stay out of the boost. Run it low again, and then fill up on high octane again.
No worries.
No worries.

Seriously though. The extra few dollars you save from fuel won't compare to the cost of a new motor. I agree with the above.

Re: 2003 Bonneville SSEi
If you can't afford Premium (91+ Octane), you shouldn't buy a supercharged motor. Not only does the car not blow holes through pistons, but you'll get better mileage, so it's really a wash anyways. You could buy a 4" pulley on an MPS hub, but there's still no guarantee that's going to not knock and blow a hole in your motor...

Re: 2003 Bonneville SSEi
Well I had to wait 6 months to find a decent engine to put in there. Now I am having hesitation under hard acceleration. Dirty Injectors? Bad plugs? Its got Champion Iridiums in it which I bead blasted clean. Or it could be the 87 gas that is mixed with the 93. I will run Seafoam through it and see it that helps. And the car will soon be for sale as well.

Re: 2003 Bonneville SSEi
I'd put new plugs and wires on. Electrodes wear over time, and I'm sure bead-blasting them didn't help. Throw some cheap copper plugs in there.

Re: 2003 Bonneville SSEi
I put Autolite 605s in it and its starting to develop the hesitation again. I think this is because of high speed glazing which melts a conductive material on the electrode insulator and masks the spark when it gets hot. thinking of getting AL Plat 104s as it's said to run colder plugs if the problem persists.

Don't get platinum. Platinum electrodes turn into glow plugs, no matter the heat-range of the plug, under boost.
Are you still running without a belt? What grade fuel are you running?
IMHO: Here's what you need to do: get the tank as empty as you dare, fill it to the brim with premium. Run it for a bit (10 miles or so) without the belt to ensure your lines are full of the current mix that's in the tank (hopefully more than 90% 91+ Octane). Then put the belt back on, and run it. See if it has any issues, and follow the normal diagnostic procedures to find them. It's hard to know what's going on when you have too many variables in the mix. Get it back to the designed configuration, and go from there.
