No muffs or res would be unbelievably loud. I have a glass pack plus 2 magnaflow and its ridiculously obnoxious. I pretty much need earplugs.

If you want rasp, then get rid of the resonator and put some Flowmasters on it.

Yeah, these cars are ridiculously, obnoxiously loud with no muffler or resonator... And I can vouch for Randy's crazy loud exhaust lol

I've got speed daddy headers high flow 3" cat. Into 2.5 Corsa system. It sounds great at idle and light throttle. Its got raspy when ya get on it ...crazy loud!!!! Sounds like this is what you ( op) want. I'm looking to see how to quiet this down some.

Start with a pair of mufflers.. I Like Borla, Magnaflow or Dynomax.. if its too loud or raspy or too much drone then add a good resonator.. Extending the tips past the bumper a little bit more then stock will also reduce drone in the cabin a little bit. Straight pipe will be loud, drone-y and raspy/dirty
Loudness:
Dynomax Ultra Flow (loud)
Borla (pretty loud)
Magnaflow (fairly Loud, quiet deep idle and gets throaty with heavy throttle)

Long/Large resonator in the midpipe. the more you can fit the better. magnaflow makes a 5" round that will fit nicely and clean it up without choaking the system. ZZperformance has a "Whisper" resonator that is chambered that will quiet it down alot.

Magnaflow, straight threw w/ perferated core:

No mufflers sounds terrible. I tried it, and it also made me 0-60 TERRIBLE. Car didn't wanna move. Right now I'm straight piped back to flowmaster mufflers. I like the sound and the 'grumble' at idle :)
