$3400, but I think they replaced more than may have been completely necessary. My family has given this shop a lot of business the last 7 or 8 years though too. A new hood was like $500-600 from BMW, the bumper cover was the priciest section.

A hood could have fixed it just fine, but they had to blend it into the fenders, and the bumper cover was cracked behind the license plate. A couple things underneath like a brake duct, new fog light, grilles, hood equipment like badges + insulation, etc.

If the headlights had been broken that wouldn't be the end of the world (new lenses are $80 each side) but any structural damage could do me serious problems on a car that blue books under 10k. Luckily I got a great deal and have recent work receipts so I'd do well in repayment in those circumstances.

The shop has estimated $2553.11. That's without a new headlight, and they'll try to repair the bumper cover. I said good luck. It goes in Tuesday next week.

Might make me either feel better, or feel worse, about owning a G8, depending on the final price.

Hmm, maybe I don't want to. If they unhook the battery, my module goes dead until it's manually reset again. For now, I can track my car as they move it in and out of the shop.

The Onstar version didn't come out till '10, and I don't know if it's as capable as the Delphi one is. Word was that GM was working on retrofitting it to some older cars like G8's, but no progress has come to light yet.
