Window switch problem

Post by gold_xero »

Hey guys,
Today my windows were acting funny. I could control the back windows and the mirrors with switch, but the passenger side I could only roll down and the driver's side the opposite. Also the driver's side rolled itself down when I started it and at times it seemed like someone was messing with the key fob. Please help....

Check the vehicle for leaks. Look for water in the wire channels. One of the easiest places to check is under the rear seat - pull it up (its only held in by 2 pressure clips) and see if there is water anywhere under that. Check the doors and the trunk for water (hose the car down and you'll see it leaking from the bottom of the door cladding if its coming in there). I've experienced a lot of leaks in mine, but I think I have dodged the bullet regarding electronics failures related to leaks. Others haven't been so lucky.

Hope its not a leak though (*dang* lot of work). It sounds like it could easily be a problem with your driver door panel or the wiring there. Can you regulate each window properly from the individual doors? What about the locks from the passenger side door?

It is not uncommon for the switch assembly on the drivers door to go bad then some windows will not work (either not go up, not go down, or not work at all.)
