Re: build sheet locations
I'm not really aware that these cars had "build sheets" like back in the 60s. Even in 95, things were much more automated. New cars just used scanners in the factory and have barcodes everywhere.
Bye Bye:

Re: build sheet locations
Depending on the assembly line/plant, there can sometimes be a checklist though with all the RPO's a specific vehicle is supposed to have, in kind of a table format. I would see them occasionally across many GM vehicles in service.
It is then scanned at pre-determined points down the assembly line (these times will show up in any GMVIS pull of the build of the car), but once it reaches the end, it is supposed to be removed and sent to accounting for some form of a TPS report (just kidding). In reality, it's not meant to be kept with the car is what I mean, so if you find one, it was forgotten, or Quality Control was a little hung over from their Labor Day weekend.

Re: build sheet locations
This keeps coming up.
GM cars may or may not leave the factory with a build sheet.
Good places to look are under the seats or on top of the gas tank, but there is no guarantee that there is one in the car at all.
Roger.

Re: build sheet locations
This isn't the 60's anymore though. Everything is computerized and J.I.T. (Just In Time), methodology, so not a lot of physical paperwork other than what is absolutely necessary, accompanies the car down the line.

Re: build sheet locations
There were only 2 places that we knew of on the Bonnevilles... Sometimes you would find them under the trunk carpet towards the jack kit, or in the actual trunk lid...
I think there were none after 94-95

Re: build sheet locations
I found a build sheet in my '95, stuffed between the outer skin and the inner framework of the trunk lid. It was yellowed and I thought it was an old piece of newspaper at first. Turned out to have quite a bit of useful information.

Re: build sheet locations
I know sometimes they can be found on the early 90's gms slipped up behind the front or rear bumper covers as well, Don't know about bonnevilles though in that case. I had 2 firebirds, a 91 & 89 I found tucked up inside the front bumper cover, and an 83 trans am that had it under the seat but slipped between the meta farma and the seat itself.

Re: build sheet locations
Don't tear your car apart Simon, have a look by all means, but you may or not be lucky.
If you damage your trim or whatever on a wild goose chase you are on a lose/lose case.
You may get lucky but no don't bank on it.
Roger.
