NO INTERIOR LIGHTS?

Post by RJW50312 »

I just bought my 03 SSEi. The interior lights do not work. Tried the rear ones and the map lights. The door lights dont work either. Checked the fuses and the DIC. Any help is greatly appreciated.

There could be a short with the lights in the mirrors in the visor. Either fix the visors or just disconnect them. There should be a blown fuse for this. Double check you fuses again.

My wife has a 2002 SSEI and the interior lights keep going out. We tried changing the blown fuse a couple times and it would last for a day or two, then it would blow again. I've heard the mirror lights theory a few different times, and I'm going to try it. But, if that doesn't fix the problem, what would be the next logical step? I'm really trying to not waste my time chasing wires all over the place.

I've got a lot of good info from this sight. I'm glad I could help someone else for a change.

Putting a small 12volt bulb in place of the fuse, or solder the bulb across a blown fuse, may help to find the circuit the problem is in. Resistance of the bulb keeps current to a safe level. Disconnect things until the light goes out. Works best with a wiring diagram. If problem is intermittent, would have to wait until the light comes on to start.

Things that move tend to fatigue the attached wires. Moving/wiggling these things may make the light in the fuse panel switch on/off. Intermittent electrical problems can be a real pain.
