Remove rear seat center armrest?

Any hints on how to remove the rear seat center armrest without breaking or ripping anything? Long ago someone lost a cinnamon chap stick inside the seat and as the weather warms-up new sticky mess appears on the armrest from inside the seat. No quick, easy way jumped out at me when I made my last attempt.

Do I need to remove the seat (bottom and back) from the car to get at the mounting hardware for the center armrest or is there a way to remove it without pulling the seat cushions out of the car?

The whole seat back, center armrest included, comes out as one piece if I recall. Once you have it out, you may be able to get the armrest out itself. I can't recall despite having mine out several times.

Once the seat back is out, there are 4-10mm bolts that hold the armrest assembly in place.

yup pull seat back and then 4 bolts. I just swapped my 2000 sle one into my gxp so still have arm rest cubbie hole lol

Thanks for the info. Those clips holding the seat back in the car are fun. No more sticky goop oozing out of the armrest now.

i just pull seat forward enough to see the clip then use a big screw driver to push the clip down then pull seat further forward. not to bad
