code 1626

Post by bonnechuck »

Gentlemen your help would be greatly appreciated. 2000 se starts, runs at idle and revs. But put in gear stalls, I assume fuel pump is being shut down. Towed twice this week. My mechanic says code 1626 and cannot fix it. I can wrench and if possible would like to fix it myself. Thanks in advance for your help. Bonnechuck.

have you tried a different key? if it needs a part, contact harofreak00 he can help if you need a part.

P1626

Description
THEFT DETERRENT SYSTEM FUEL ENABLE CIRCUIT

Vehicle operation is disabled if incorrect key or starting
procedure is used. Theft deterrent module enables crank circuit to
starter and sends a signal to PCM if correct key is being used. If
proper signal does not reach PCM fuel enable signal circuit, PCM will
not pulse injectors on, disabling vehicle, even if crank circuit is
by-passed. Signal should be 40-60 Hz and is measured using DVOM in
Hertz scale.

Symptoms
Engine will not run

Causes

PCM detects incorrect signal on Theft Deterrent System (TDS)
fuel enable circuit.

Solutions

Check for faulty connection at TDS module.
Replace VTD module.

If it runs, the problem is not being caused by that code. It can fail in 2 states. One where the car will start, run, and drive fine. The other where it will not even start. Is the security light on? Have you checked fuel pressure? Any other codes? Disconnected the MAF to see how it runs? Checked for large vacuum leaks?
