whos bought a uim for 3800?

Post by david »

So what did you buy and are you happy with it. Seen the Dorman kit and someone on here showed one with steel tube and bushing. Has anyone bought that set up and did it have everything gaskets ect ? This is for a 2000 Bonnie 3800 n/a. Thanks to all planning to buy one tomorrow.

I know the one from ZZ Performance does have all the gaskets, etc. because I emailed them the very same question yesterday. I've simply not ordered one yet.

I can't say who makes the UIM I linked you, but I had this product next to a Dorman non-sleeved intake and build quality and solidity were spot on. Mine's been working perfectly fine since late August.

That sure fix manifold looks like an excellent deal, to be honest. Pre-sleeved UIM. If it comes with the gasket, you're hard pressed to beat the price. I'm still running on used UIM's that I acquired throughout my years of playing with L36's. I still have one good one left.
I have a Bonneville, it's white and N/A!

I just ordered this Dorman kit:

http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/raframe ... ttype=5536

Also, if you don't have the new aluminum LIM gasket on there, this is a great time to do that as well.

You are going to pull the lower and have a look at it too right? If it has a plastic gasket you need to pull the lower and at least look at it. In fact, I would not do the upper without the lower unless it was an aluminum one.

Well I installed it last night but do to the rain could not complete the job. Hopefully after church I can finish and turn it over. I really dont see the difference in the new and improved design. The metal sleeve really what does that do? Nothing touches it and is that were the uim fails? Thanks to all for the help.

Same here. Had to swap out the injector o-rings again though. I have put almost 50,000 miles on mine and it is finally starting to show a little bit of leaking at one corner. Pretty impressed with how it has held up.

That's where the coolant to the TB goes. The stock EGR stovepipe gets much closer to that and melts it, causing coolant to leak in that area. The reduced diameter stovepipe plus the metal sleeve eliminate this problem.
Bye Bye:
