Remove air bag,
Unplug wire to switch,
remove switch.

I have removed the switch without removing the air bag, but the wires a pretty short.

Best to remove the air bag first.
You should also know something about disabling the SIR/SDM before messing around with the air bag.

I have an airbag tool if it comes to that Dean. Maybe Haro knows a shortcut. He must have done it a billion times.

I just use a bent screwdriver to release the airbag. I usually don't remove the airbag to swap buttons though.

I didn't have to either. Just a very thin screwdriver to use to pry the switches out of the wheel, and be careful not to pull too hard on the harness. Those wires are thin.

Interesting factoid...the Bonneville isn't the only one to use those pods. Grand Prixs, Grand Ams, and Montanas also used them. BUT the locating/retention tab on the back of the switches are different. I pieced together several of these pods to make a pristine set for my car.
2005 GXP - White Gold Pearl, no mods...yet.
2000 SSEi - Resurrection in progress. Built L67 w/L32 fuel rail, ported heads, and cam. Camaro front brake system, GXP cluster, and much more in planning.

I was thinking you had to remove the torx screws from the back of the wheel, then they just pop off from the front then, that sounds good. Lets see what I break then
