For a second... I've been wondering how the gauges you mounted there look. Obviously that cubby is no good for holding my sunglasses on WOT runs.

I'll soon be getting the pod for the lower cubby to put my Aeroforce into.

I'm thinking I'm going to be doing the same with my cubby.

I would love the 3 gauge setup that John has, but it's big bucks, and you can no longer get the HSV gauges. so I'd have to populate it with other gauges. I'd probably go with 2 Aeroforce gauges, and wouldn't know what I'd get for the 3rd.

I also like the the curve down by the shifter that the 3 gauge trim provides, plus the ash tray door (unlike the 90* angle on the North American trim). I just haven't decided if that's the route I want to go yet.

I really only use my aeroforce. So I'll stay with the single pod down low. Especially since I use my cigarette lighter for my phone charger on a daily basis. I wish there was a way to put it in back of the console like the 00+ had.

So people didn't like the Atari gauges there and GM gets rid of them and gives you a cubby hole and you're not happy with that either... GM can't win.

I actually liked the Atari gauges, and thought about maybe trying to score one of those.

Will, if you get the full trim set (with smokers package), it moves the DC port from inside the console to the back of the console, just like in the Bonneville, but then you have to find 3 gauges to fill out the holes up top.

I may look into those Atari gauges. I like having a place to put my sunglasses (other than my face). The only time it's REALLY a problem is WOT, but even still...

I definitely have to look into that Greg! Do you happen to have any more info on that?? I don't mind leaving the single pod and DC outlet where it would be below the ECC, I just hate the cord dangling in the passenger footwell with the iPod cord, which is also just temporary until I get a Rear Aux cable.

So basically all I really want is to move the second DC port from inside the console to directly opposite where it sits now on the outside in the back seat area.

I have the same problem with where I put my phone in the Suburban (on the center console lids' little writing tablet area). Any form of aggressive driving (like yesterday morning), and the phone ends up in the back seat, usually passenger side...

Of course where you can't reach it well...

After looking at the smoker's package, I like the look of that door in the front. But I need a place to put my AF so I can't do that. But at the least I want to do the rear DC port.

The only 2 places I know to order that kit from are Crazy Paul's (http://members.iinet.net.au/~pjsadler/i ... age631.htm) and JHP (http://www.jhpss.com/Pontiac-G8/G8SportsGauges.htm).

I don't know a whole lot of about the kits specifically, other than what I've pieced together in my head from looking at the packages. What it looks like is it replaces the trim from the cubby down, past the shifter, and to the console. If you look into it, Crazy Paul's is the better deal. You'll have to take out another loan or sell some organs to get it from JHP.

I also love the idea of the rear aux port. I just need to make a cable and get the VIM (video in motion) reprogramer, so I can take advantage of the screen (VIM Reprogram Info).

I just want the rear aux for my iPod. Rumor is it's class II so it will allow faceplate iPod control. Whether it does or not it's still worth it to me to buy the cable JHP sells just to have the ipod and cable hidden when I drive. Maybe get it to charge too. I was spoiled by my custom setup in the limo. It was hidden in the armrest, I never had to touch the iPod itself.

I have to PM Paul and see if he will sell me just the rear ash tray thingy. I've heard he's pretty good about custom orders.

That's another reason I need to get on at least of of those G8 forums, so I can message people and ask about things.

I want to actually get a computer setup (using a WD Live box) going and use the screen, but the pictures showing how to build the rear aux cable no longer show. The screen is there, so I just want to take advantage of it (may even add a backup cam in the future, if funds allow).

How do you have G8's and not be on G8Board?

Don't fall for that Grrrr8.net or whatever. He was one of the disruptive %&(*&_(&%# that we banned from G8Board. He got his undies in a bunch and went and created his own board. Then spammed members on G8Board through PM to come join his. G8Board is the original, has the most knowledge, etc...

You're welcome. While I am no longer active (der, I don't own one), I was one of those that helped turn the lights on and get it going. It was an off-shoot of LS1GTO at the time, owned by Jon and he asked all of us moderators of the GTO board to handle duties over there...

OK I'd like an opinion. Should I go back and get the 3/36k warranty? I heard my LCAs creaking last night. I know it'll passiinspection without them finding it right now. Would it be worth it or just get aftermarket LCAs and do them myself?

Yeah, I could, although I would not be the one making it either. I have a friend that is good at that stuff, and I'm going to try to get him to make it once I can get a hold of all the parts.

I tend to bounce around between both forums, gathering as much info as I can. Yeah, I have a G8, and I still hang around a Bonneville forum.

You're in Illinois. What inspection do you need to pass?
