Did Bonnevilles ever come with OEM remote start?

Post by phil0054 »

A friend of mine has an 04 GP GXP with factory fob. I'm wondering if a module can be added from the GP to the Bonnie (02 SSEi) for this feature. I have considered android app controlled RS/KE/A systems, but I would really prefer to keep the 2 person seat memory function.

Found my first TINY paint chips on the hood and two on a door, so I bought an arctic white chip paint, tried it under the hood next to the fender so I could check the color match, was too bright. Didn't see a color code on the door patch. Do I look this up from the VIN? Any thoughts on using zink based cold galv spray on areas under the car or in the gas filler pocket? Should I just find a body shop and have the chips fixed, and then have the hood herpies removed? Thoughts on the clear coating for extra protection on the nose of the hood?

Oh yeah, I would like to find the trunk net and replacement tiedowns, missing those and the inflator/accessory kit, and ONE rear floor mat.

Is it normal for the radio to skip over programmed stations when changing stations from the steering wheel?

When it was -10, one of the steering wheel control lights came on, but shut off when it got warmer. Contact ring problems?

Another weird observation: Pulling up a hill at highway speed causes fluctuation, thanks to this forum, I understand the most likely reason why. However, when I'm climbing the same hill on cruise control, there is no surging. Could it be too weak a throttle spring? sounds unlikely.

Loving this car so far....but already thinking about power upgrades....

They never came with it. I.e. no provisions for it. I added it along with a Viper alarm. Couldn't be happier.

No they didnt come with a remote start, I have added one to my SSEi that retains the Memory functions.

I got a Bulldog ( i think is the name), unit that can be configured to start the car based on the Factory remote Lock Pulses. The way it works is to Unlock the car then press lock 3 times with the key fob, and the car will start, with Either Number 1 or Number 2 key fob and retain all settings

Mine retains memory settings as well.

Aftermarket systems can be had at a decent price, but depending on exactly what you want they can be spendy.

Thanks guys! My first bonnie, an 89 se, had a bulldog RS, I installed it myself, but I'm not so confident on installing it on a 2002 with dual memory, though if instructions are clear, no problem.

The biggest thing is the range and features with the aftermarket fobs. My stock fobs only go like 100'. The good Vipers go miles, or unlimited if you get the setup that works off your phone.

Thinking I'd like a longer range too...

Any thoughts on the rest of my OP?

Update to my OP: Looks like I need to PM the ignition system, surging while on cruise control too...

I didn't know you could use the factory remotes, I didn't want a different remote. I had a remote start installed on the wife's car in Dec., hers' reaches 1200'

Do you know what model your Bulldog system is? And what kind of range you get with their fobs?

This is the one that I installed

I DO NOT use the Bulldog Fob. I use the factory fob to retain the memory settings
