Stock radio no longer working

Post by pdgibson8 »

I have a 1997 Bonneville SE my kids have been driving. The stock radio appears to no longer work...no power, no lights etc. Checked fuse and that is intact. I am assuming it has finally taken a dumper since a milkshake was spilled on it 3 years ago. Any one ever had this happen where it just goes out? I would like to stay with stock radio and noticed a similar version on hifisoundconnection.com, just has a CD player vs cassette. Are these interchangeable? Any programming issues once installed? Thanks for any help.

Pre-2000 GM vehicles don't need programming, so you should be fine there. The are interchangeable, as long as the plugs and mounting are the same. I got one for my old Bonne from cd4car.com, its a little more expensive, but they had great customer service(on the phone and the website), plus they have a 90 day warranty.

There are several fuses that go to the radio. There is one for constant hot (memory) and one for switched power, and the radio will not power on if either is blown.
2005 GXP - White Gold Pearl, no mods...yet.
2000 SSEi - Resurrection in progress. Built L67 w/L32 fuel rail, ported heads, and cam. Camaro front brake system, GXP cluster, and much more in planning.
