Headlight Clear Coat
Re: Headlight Clear Coat
Oh and sad part is they came off an 04 gxp. Saw the car myself, my guess is that it was in an accident and the headlights were replaced with those ones.

$80 isn't a bad deal at all then, I wouldn't be too upset.
Clean up all four of them and hit them with the spar method and sell a pair for $150 or so.

Ding, ding, ding! We have a winner. Headlights have a UV protection barrier applied to the plastic lens. Over time, it is degraded, often by road rash. Those lenses actually look quite a bit like mine. I polished them last summer, and started removing the UV coating near the top edges.ga93sle wrote:They should have had clear on them to keep them from getting hazy when they were new. That's why when you restore your headlights they get cruddy looking so quickly, because when you sand them you take the clear off of them. The only way to make those lights look 100% would be to sand the rest of the clear off of them and totally refinish them either with clear or the urethane. You can get away with just sanding where the clear is peeling, but ultimately you'll have a line unless you sand the whole light.

you should wet sand them to get the rest off and put a few coats of clear on them if u can use regular clear coat the same stuff you would use on car paint if you do that they will stay like that for years
