Shouldn't ever have any miss fires. Unless you still have a problem.

and hunt down a new ICM

Before changing out ICM I would replace plugs and wires first. If you have not done so first. Then use this procedure to test coils.

http://www.pontiacbonnevilleclub.com/fo ... c1683.html

Then if your coils all check good replace the ICM. Basic Idea start with the cheapest things working your way up. If you don't know when plugs and wires have been done last just replace them. Just my 2cents. You could replace the ICM and still have the issue do to one of the others. Plus no need to replace all three coils at once if you only need one.

Did you end up getting your friend to scan for codes? What were they?

Also sometimes the issue is not plugs, wires, coils, or ICM. Sometimes its a Crank Position Sensor going, tps, mafs or a transmission slipping or going. Or even vacume leaks. With symptoms you describe. With out knowing all codes set and even knowing all codes set on some scanners. When the CPS starts going often times it wont set a code.

The only reason I was able to determine it was the ICM on my car is that I took the ICM off my mom's '97 LeSabre (which was down for a fuel pump replacement), and all my misfires went away. So I managed to get a replacement from Andrew (harofreak). Been running smooth since. But as Nocrank mentioned, it's probably best to get scanned to see if the codes can give you an idea of where to start.

I do have some problems still (the biggest being 8* KR on WOT), but that is something I am going to dig into in the Spring.

If you can get the ICM checked at an auto parts store, before you just replace it. I thought that was the issue with my car and turned out to be the TPS.

I suggest getting another ICM. Either from Andrew or going to the JY. Never hurts to have a spare on hand.

Getting them tested at the parts stores is a hit or miss situation. They are not always right.
