TRANSGO SK-4T65E Kit

Post by roadtested »

Are "new" seals for the 1-2 & 3-4 accumulator pistons included with the kit? There seems to be some confusion as to the content of the kit. Any "torn" gasket reports for the accumulator housing to cover? Aside from adding the second magnet and a drain plug that's pretty much the extent of everything that can be accomplished without dropping the side cover and suspension member for modifications, correct?

Yes or no to Seafoam or similar product for maybe a 100 mile drive before the service? Which product might be the preferred? Dexron VI?

Any comments?

Thanks!

No seals for the pistons, just the springs and spacers. When I did mine the gasket wanted to stick but it came apart fine. I would stick with Dex III because VI is thinner and would not help the "seal" in the piston walls.

It's been my understanding that it's not long and the "shear" of D-III is actually less than D-VI. I was actually planning on Allison TranSynd but I ran a little short on time and purchased the D-VI. Maybe I'll rethink the wait!

You didn't pass on any thoughts of the Seafom or equivalent for a hundred or so miles!

I've only used Seafoam in the gas tank and for intake hot soak. I have always been resistant to put it in the crankcase or trans and haven't really heard results of anyone who has. Prob a good Google search for that one.

I assumed that most would be familiar with the Trans Tune by Seafoam:

I certainly didn't believe anyone would assume I meant the "crankcase" product!

Lol, just a general response, you can use the regular Seafoam in the crankcase before an oil change.

I generally run the Trans Tune before doing a pan drop and filter change.
