98 Bonneville, cranks but no start

Ok heres what im working with:

My girlfriends 98 Pontiac Bonneville, died on us on the way to the doctors.

were driving on the freeway and it stopped running.

got it towed home. orginally thought it was a broken timing chain to got to tore down to find, a good timing chain. so replaced the cover gasket front main seal,oil pressure switch( not by choice broke old one removing) replaced the water pump as well.

next thought was cam sensor so replaced that. still nothing.

next I replaced spark plugs and wires. still no difference cranks but no start.

tried starting with maf sensor unplugged, still nothing.


where should i go next???

tired of puttin money into this thing!
has good fuel pressure, has spark as well.

Have you checked the fuel pressure with the key on? Do you hear the pump run for a couple seconds after the key is turned on?

Yes I've checked for that. you can hear the pump run

Check for fuel injector pulse next.
A running fuel pump doesn't mean you have the proper pressure.

you replaced the cam sensor, but not the crank sensor?

A bad crank sensor is known for no start conditions.

I tried replacing the Crank sensor as well, with no change so I returned it and reinstalled the old one.

how would i go about checking the injector pulse?

Put a #194 light bulb in the injector harness connector and make sure its flashing while cranking.

OK, i'm pretty sure i found the problem.

could a leaking lower or upper intake gasket be causing low compression? without mixing oil and coolent?

I did a compression test on the front 3 clys and only got aboyut 65psi on all cylinders i tested. tested on cly in the back and got same results.

what needs to be done?
