Stuff I just had done...and it helped. A LOT!

Post by Ludichris »

New brakes all the way around (well...sort of. Front rotors were turned, front pads have plenty left on them). Back rotors and pads.

New tires all the way around.

Upper manifold completely replaced...and along with it, of course, all the coolant was dumped and replaced with universal coolant. Hooray for no more DexCool!

Just got the brake job done today. NO MORE "shake while you brake!". VERY happy about that! Between that and the smooth ride the new tires are giving me...it feels like a completely different car.

Now I just need to pray that the LIM's hold out until I can afford to get them done (please don't ask why I didn't do them at the same time as the UIM. It's a long story, and in short, a matter of timing and finances....still ticks me off). After that, I should be good to go for a good LONG while. Happy with the way my Bonnie's riding right now though, very pleased. It rides nearly as good as my girlfriend's LeSabre, which is to say....like it's floating on a cloud.

Nice! It feels awesome to know your car's doing good again. Once you get those LIM gaskets done, she'll be ready for anything.

It is a good feeling, I know what you mean. Have fun and be safe with your upgraded Bonneville.

Yes, I sure am. Bluffton...that isn't too far, is it? I'm terrible with my Indiana geography. Been here five years and sometimes still need GPS to get around parts of town! LOL

Thanks man. Yeah, feels REAL good. Oh please oh please, LIM's....just be good to me while I wait to get you done. Smooth ride though, real smooth. I can feel a little somethin' going on with the ISS...but compared to how the car felt before...it's SO minor.

Thank you! Yeah...I'm still getting used to there NOT being vibration in my steering wheel while I brake. I was so used to that annoyance that I'm still finding myself 'expecting' it...and then it's weird (in a good way) when it's not there. The Michelin MXV4's are a very smooth riding tire. I do 80% highway driving, and this is an L36, not an L67, so I'm all about FUEL ECONOMY, not seeing how fast I can take a corner. I'm on my first full tank of gas after getting all this stuff done, too.....and from the trip odometer and where the needle is at....it looks like an improvement. I'll probably report back on that one later. I never realized that the TIRES can be part of the SUSPENSION system, until I bought a good touring tire and felt how much they help absorb the bumps. Wow.
