Very nice! All detailing clay available here in the U.S. is the same no matter the brand because of a patent. Just go with whatever is the cheapest and has the most clay.

I definitely don't agree with the no buffer / machine polishing, but you definitely do a good job by hand. I think you would be a good candidate for www.autogeekonline.net ;)

As far as buffing goes, the key is to finish out the buffing. You can't just buff the crap out of it and leave it, you have to step down your buffing stages.

I am actually just a noob in the detailing world compared to many out there :btruestory: but the key as said above, is in the finish work. I don't use a rotary buffer so that mostly eliminates the possibility of damage from my machine as well as holograms. Even still though the finish needs to be done with progressively finer polishes and pads.

I have learned a TON from that autogeek site, great place to learn about detailing! You can learn how to use a polisher and do it yourself too :beerchug: Your paint already does look amazing though, I can definitely tell it is in good hands :)

Looks great dude. I definitely agree with starting with a polisher, made our GXP shine like a new penny.

Well I guess noob can mean many things, I take a lot of pride in my work but have been doing it with a polisher for only about 4.5 years which to me is still new at it

:banghead:

I get crap for that all the time  I can't stand wearing a shirt when really hot out and I didn't even think about putting it back on when I took the pics, believe me, I am not trying to show anything off :btruestory:

All that aside though I really do take a LOT of pride in doing a great job to make sure that everyone that I detail for comes back and recommends me to their friends. Working pretty good so far! I don't make a ton of money out of it, but enough to buy new detailing goodies for myself as well as a good weekend with the wife here and there and fun stuff for the kids :beerchug:

That's the problem with busy detail shops, they're more concerned with quantity than quality. I like the fact that I'm not detailing anymore and can take the time to do my own car. I put more work into my white paint than most people put into thier black lol.

Bl4z3 wrote: Its just around here where I am they just don't go nearly fast enough and burn the *shoot* outta the paint. I'd just rather take my time n' do it Right. High RPM and slow swipes make Lots of Swirls... and there's LOTS of Swirly Paint around me :sad3: Around here you can definitely tell who waxes by hand and who doesn't, its that bad. Thanks for the input on the clay didn't know that. I saw this set at Bond Autoparts for $32 bucks and Wal Mart had it for $17 so I jumped on it. The Mothers I usually use was 18 and this came with 2 Bars so even more Reason to get this one. :)
Actually, the opposite is the problem. Most shops go too fast, not too slow. They use a rotary polisher and go 100 miles an hour to maximize throughput. The problem with that is the buffer isn't leveling the paint properly at a nice even pace and leaves holograms. A lot of waxes can hide that from the customer until they wash it one or two times later.
