Beautiful Andrew. Especially seeing its luster compared to the black one next to it.

I've been driving this one around lately to iron out any rough edges. This afternoon I noticed the engine was ticking a little. 10 miles down the road and now its knocking pretty good at anything over 1500 rpm. Luckily the engine is still under warranty from a local yard, but I'll probably end up doing another engine install. Ugh.

Ahh that sucks. I guess it's better to deal with it now and know it was a bad engine vs. someone trying to come back and not knowing if it was their fault or not.

I just purchased a 2k model with everything yours have minus the sun-roof....
Mine has 152k, I paid 1500.00 and spend a few more hunreds bucks on the following (Mass Air Flow Sensor, two coils and a TPS-not installed).
Mine was pulling several codes but now seems everything is working properly. I have notice some rough shifting at times, then normal shifting... does anyone have any answers on this shifting.... ( I have checked bottom trans mount-looks good no cracks and the front mount/same thing.....

I have yet to really get into and open her up... but it seems like a nice car.....

justoyz2, here is your problem: http://tripleedgeperformance.com/Harsh_ ... P1811.html

I got pretty lucky on this one being that I bought the engine locally. I dropped off the car at the salvage yard on Monday because they wanted to inspect the engine. I assumed they just wanted to verify it was the engine that I bought from them and that I installed it correctly. I gave them a call today to see what they had figured out. He told me that he was planning on rebuilding the bottom end of the engine and putting in new bearings. I was surprised that they are doing this labor! Turns out they are one of those companies that stand behind their warranties. He said they will warranty the work being done for another 90 days. This is great, the car gets fixed and I don't have to touch it. In fact, I'll be in Las Vegas while the car is being fixed! :P

WOW! That sounds like a great salvage yard to go to.

A lot of them would give you another motor and say "sorry about your luck"

Well, After driving the car for a good 50 miles on the highway and in stop and go traffic, I haven't expierenced any harsh shifting and there are no codes, no service engine light... I filled the tank and it's actually running pretty good. I put 87 in, not sure if that's the right octane, but I haven't been on boost hardly at all.

The guy I purchased the car from had the plugs set at .055, I changed them to .060 (recommend, right)? Well I am looking for a better set of driver and passenger seats. These look a bit worn... I will post some pics today.....

From now on, put premium in. Otherwise you'll get this...

This was #4 piston. Found it when I pulled the head to put the rebuilt one on. Good thing I decided to do that.

So, back to the first plan. The crank is good, the bearings I have pulled from this motor show minimal wear, so the machine shop will just need to polish the journals and nothing else. Nobody around here will do a full rotating assembly balance (that's a shock), so I'm going to HF to see if they have a digital scale in stock and weigh each piston, con rod, and pin and get a good weight spread.

For now, here's a teaser...

Got back from vacation and picked up the car yesterday. I got treated like a king on this deal. They ended up doing a full rebuild. New bearings, new head gaskets, new aluminum intake gaskets, the whole works. They even painted the block and heads. No questions asked, with another 90 day warranty. I highly recommend anyone local to buy from Skip's Auto Deluxe in Alexandria, MN.

I still have an airbag light I'm trying to diagnose, otherwise its basically ready for sale.

Very nice! I can't believe they didn't just throw in another used engine, just like what you bought in the first place.

I imagine you get quite a bit from this yard? If they know about your flipping cars and such, they probably figure it's good business to go the extra mile for you knowing you could be a good repeat customer on engines, etc.

Yes I've bought several engines from them in the past. They know me as the Bonneville guy. I believe that they would treat anyone the same as me though.
