Power door locks acting up

Talk about the other 3800 powered GM cars, particularly for items not covered in other sections that may be unique to your year/model, and differ from a Bonneville.

Power door locks acting up

Post by ga93sle »

So for a long time the "Lock" button on my key fob hasn't worked, so I've been using the lock buttion on the driver's door. Here lately, even the lock button on the door hasn't worked. I usually hit it twice, the first time locks the doors, second time sets the alarm, just like with the fob. Sometimes (increasingly) when I hit the lock button, the doors don't lock, but I can hear a clicking noise under the dash. I've also found that if I hit it twice, it will set the alarm even if it doesn't lock the doors. I haven't checked any fuses or anything yet, because it doesn't really seem like a fuse problem to me... Any ideas?

My 97 is doing this.. before, did *some* of the doors lock completely? and others didn't actually lock? My passenger side (both front and rear) do this sometimes..

No, it's either all or nothing, they all lock, or none of them do. They dont' even "try" to lock, just a faint clicking from under the dash, nothing from the doors.

Just for the record, I'm reading a lot about the older Grand Prixs like yours having problems with the BCM (body control module) causing the door locks to work intermittently or not at all, but I still can't find anything for the newer bodystyle.
