jacking rails bonni gxp

Post by Plasmaburn »

it really sucks that there is really no aftermarket for the GXP's so instead of crying about it I have been thinking of developing parts myself and maybe even selling them. So I have a 97 gt mustang and I have been looking it over and looking at all the aftermarket I have on it and it has giving me some ideas. So my question is I am going to make some jacking rails for my car would anyone be interested in them or any other parts I come up with.

not sure this is the right section for this

:stupid:

If you mean something to jack on, there's no need to make anything. Plenty of good spots under the car for jacking it up.

I'm gonna say the same thing. If you can't find places to lift the car, you're doing it wrong. :)

I never had issues.

a Jacking rail is a square tube welded to the pinch welds on each side of the car. I understand if you guys have no interest in them but I do a lot of work on my cars and they speed up the process. I Don't have to jack up one corner of the car at a time i can jack up one side at a time. Speeds up for me at least changing brakes, bleeding brakes, rotating tires, cleaning rims (if you take them off to clean like I do) and when I store my mustang for the winter that's where I put the jack stands so the suspension can be uncompressed. I also bet it would improve handling by making the chassis stiffer though a very small improvement that you most likely wouldn't be able to feel.

regardless I respect you guys opinions but I am still going to try and make them for my bonni and if anyone else wants a set or to also try and make a set like me I will be glad to help.

no subframe connectors are not the same thing close though. think smaller and on the pinch welds at the side of the car if you google mustang jacking rails under images you should see what I'm talking about. You gave me an idea subframes hmm not sure subframe connectors would help our cars since they are front wheel drive but I'm going to look in to that now good idea.

I jack the front of the car up in the center of the front of the sub frame. Personally the benefits of changing anything like that under that car wouldn't be worth the added weight.

x2

I always jack by the sub-frame and do the front or rear at a time. When using jack stands, i put them on the sub-frame mounts.

My car is never in the garage long enough to use jack stands.

http://www.lethalperformance.com/2011-2 ... rails.html

The whole undercarriage of the car is a massive jacking point, essentially. Sure it's not the pinch weld, but instead it's a couple inches further inward.

Doesn't matter to me anyways, I have a 2 post lift in the shop, lol.

I do a lot of work on my cars too! I used to do it for a living! I respect your idea and am not knocking it in any way, shape, form and wish you the best of luck making it something profitable, allowing you to retire and laugh at all us. :)

I (and the others), just don't see the issue in this case though, as there a plethora of places to lift this car. That is all. Like a few others, I also have a lift in the garage. You want to see a difficult car to lift, I will submit my GTO!
