Re: L67 GXP build
Glad to see you're finally getting some time to work on it. Looks good so far! Will this be one that stays parked in wintertime?

Re: L67 GXP build
Talked to a local speed shop who builds these motors w/sc and sends them to Tiawan for midget racing, they have 412hp at the crank, he said they are fitted with forged crank and rods and i would assume pistons too, looks like you could be in that range with your set up.

Re: L67 GXP build
FWIW on the L32 heads.. The valves are barely larger. You need to measure the difference with calipers to see it. And for them flowing better, I've never seen verification of this anywhere. If they do, it's marginal since there’s nothing drastically different with the casting.

The late model L32 has 20 more hp from the coated superc harger I'm told.

It's from the Gen V S/C. Nothing to do with coatings, etc. That's the difference between 92-93 and 94-95 S1 L67's.
The heads may not be better, but sure aren't worse.

Re: L67 GXP build
L32 intake valves are 1.83 compared to the 1.80 on the L67. The casting numbers are the same on both. I guess between all these little differances makes the 20 extra hp over the series 2

Re: L67 GXP build
Had a custom bracket welded today.

Because of the curve, no extra mounts on the sides were needed, its very strong.

I drilled some holes and used 4" carriage bolts to attach it to the bumper.

Re: L67 GXP build
Well its been almost a year since I last did any work on this. With the baby on the way, my wife said I have to have this car done before the baby is born or I will never get it done. I started to put things in motion earlier this week. On Monday I started putting all the finishing touches on the engine. I put all new wire loom on the engine harness to make it look a little nicer. I modified the wiring harness to adapt to the new N* throttle body. I think ZZP's wiring adapter harnesses look messy.
Here is the engine ready to be mated to the trans. It is a 30k mile L32 long block that I pulled out of one my project cars that was totalled. It has been modded with:
Here is the transmission ready to be mated to the engine. It is the same transmission out of my blue 2000 SSEi, but it has been professionally rebuild with TEP parts:

Now they are together, a marriage made in heaven.

I also cleaned and painted up the subframe. It is the original subframe from my demodded 2000 SSEi. New control arms, inner and outer tierods, and those stupid Monroe struts. Also got a new rear trans mount, and using a 3" boat roller as the front mount.

Engine/trans on the subframe with everything ready to go:

Ready to drop the car onto the subframe

To avoid clearance issues because of the intercooler height, I installed some spacers on the side engine mounts to lower the engine by about 1/2". I also didn't install any washers for the custom frount mount.

Here is the first startup of the engine. It hadn't ran in about 2 years, so I primed the oil pump for about 30 seconds prior to starting it with the ignition hooked up.
http://youtu.be/w3YRQ8NZ5aw
With the car running, I took it out for a spin. The roads are still very gritty, so there is no traction, hence not starting from a stop. The car is not even closed to tuned yet and I'm getting hardly any KR with a 3.0 pulley. I still haven't installed the intercooler plumbing, that's for next week.

I'm pretty disappointed with the Monroe front struts, but I have new FE5 struts coming, hopefully get that front end back down to stock height.
