2000 40TH Anniversary Grand Prix

A neighbor has one that he might decide to sell and I have always liked the styling of this car.Does anyone around the forum have one or any info on them,an what would be a good price to expect to pay?

Well since we dont know how many miles are on it, its hard to shoot ya a number. Personally I would give you a number thats $2000 below blue book. And the 40th stuff means nothing per se, just like the Bonneville(some extra embroidery, floor mats and a stick on badge on the C pillar)

So the car is an 02,don't know why I assumed it was a 00.Anyhow,the owner said that it has 138,000 miles on it and I took a another look at it and noticed a few body issues,small dents along the body and it looks like there is a piece of molding that is missing underneath the drivers side door.I havent even gotten a chance to get inside of the car and tun it on yet but at this point I'm not sure if I will even bother.

I'd consider $3k or less to be a pretty decent deal, as Kelley Blue Book puts it around $3200 in fair condition, up to $4000 in very good condition. This is assuming we're talking a GT coupe, as there are both GT and GTP variants in both 2 door and 4 doors.

A friend of mine has a 40th GT coupe, and they're actually more than just a badge job like the Bonnevilles were. They get a specific spoiler, roof rails, unique chrome wheels, and a two tone maroon and black leather interior with unique shift knob, steering wheel, embroidery, etc. Most were pretty well loaded with most options. His has HUD, premium stereo, moonroof, etc. In 2003, they had the Special Edition, which was the same, except it was offered in a couple other color choices outside, and had gray & black two tone leather inside, if I remember right.

Not knowing how bad the dents or missing trim is, I'd shoot an offer for $2000-2500-ish and leave room for bodywork. The nice thing is, as long as none of the 40th-specific pieces are damaged, everything else swaps out with the GT/GTP that are plentiful in salvage yards.

I agree with Ben on the 40th specific options, I also believe the Special Edition interior was grey and black, btw, both are really cool cars, IMO. But unfortunately, they are still not worth any more than a normal GT or GTP. I agree on the $2000 to $2500... maybe $3000 if it's really clean?

The 40th grand prixs actually were pretty slick looking for their time imo, i wanted one before i got the Bonneville. Sure its only appearance stuff but that leaves more free cash for modding
