A good wheel cleaner and elbow grease. If they aren't coated you could try a metal polish. I use a chrome polish on my chrome wheels in the spring with good results on the brake dust.

:stupid:

I like Meguiar's Hot Wheels cleaner, the purple bottle for painted/bare wheels, the red bottle for chrome wheels. It's fairly cheap at the chain auto-parts stores.

Might need to get a stiff bristled nylon brush to get some of the caked-on gunk off. A good coat of wax on your wheels makes it much easier to clean them, after you get them cleaned and polished.

For reference, which wheels do you have?

Any pictures? Swoopies never came on GTP's, only Bonneville SLE/SSEi's.

Magic Erasers work very good with warm water and your choice of wheel cleaner. Not for painted wheels however.

If they are clear coated, use a wheel cleaner and something to scrub. I wouldn't use a real stiff bristle brush because you would scratch the clear. Otherwise if they are bare aluminum, a metal polish might work easier.
