Remote keyless ?
My one and only remote has stopped working. The battery seemed to be slowly dying up until when it completely quit so I replaced the battery with no luck. Is there any way to tell if the remote itself is bad or if the module which receives the signal from the remote is bad?

Re: Remote keyless ?
The dealership in my area will program the remote for free. It may be worth a phone call to ask the service desk if they program it for free or a small charge. I understand your not sure whether its the transmitter or the receiver. But if you take it to them and they try to program it they are going to tell you weather or not its going to work and probably which item is not working (transmitter / receiver). Do yo have memory seats? You said you have only one remote does it have a # 1 or 2 on the back. I may have an extra transmitter still new in the package (i bought a new transmitter then my car got in an accident a week later) I never got a chance to get it program to my car. I am not sure what # it is I will look for it. Andrew (harofreak) can also help you on parts. He is a great resource for parts.

Some auto parts stores have little RF detectors at the counter, they will detect if your remote is putting out a signal. You could confirm if the remote is working this way. If its not, chances are the battery holder that is soldered to the circuit board lost its connection. You can resolder it if so.

Re: Remote keyless ?
Thanks for the answers. I'll take a look at the couple of things suggested and post back.

Well, what do you know. I took the new battery out to test the voltage, put it back in and now the remote works perfectly.

Good to hear. Might want to clean the connections with a little fine steel-wool, and make sure the clip is holding the battery tight for a solid connection.
Bye Bye:

Re: Remote keyless ?
One time I had a solder joint for the battery holder on my remote crack.
I also had a bad solder joint on a circuit board component cause a reduction in range.
Just had to re-flow the joints with a soldering iron to fix.
