2000+ Front door umbilical

Post by Bonneureka »

So after much research, anguish many UPS and FED ex deliveries I am in the home stretch of an aftermarket upgrade to my 2000 SE plain Jane audio system. The CD and tape combo just won't do in iPod land....

So,,,Polk Audio amp in the trunk, Polk 6x9's in the rear deck, all wires neatly pulled forward to just behind the glove box...here's where the fun starts!! I have new speakers for the from doors. They are Polk two ways 6,5 inch, for which I have pulled new 14 gauge wire. I intended a home run from the amp to the speaker until i ran into the door umbilical that appears to me more connector than conduit. At this point I see two options:

1. scab into the rubber umbilical after making some fresh holes...run the wires and risk water damage and cosmetic imperfections,

2. Tie the Amp output back into the ribbon cable behind the radio and use the factory wires from the head to the doors....run the risk of degraded sound quality...

so far i have not cut/mangled/folded or mutilated anything,,

Any thoughts?
