00 gp gtp axle issue

Talk about the other 3800 powered GM cars, particularly for items not covered in other sections that may be unique to your year/model, and differ from a Bonneville.

00 gp gtp axle issue

Post by its840 »

my 2000 grand prix gtp. ok.. so i replaced both axles due to vibrations (they where shot).. now on the pass side the shaft doesn't seem to go in all the way and there is movement at the trans.. there is about a 1 inch gap between the end of the shaft and the diff cover.. to me it really looks like someone took the 4t65e-HD diff and cover and replaced them with a 4t65e cover. i took a few pics of it today while i was at work..

The diff cover should be 4" exactly, not including how far the axle seal sticks out.
