Lamin-x tint

Post by Haulin ssei54 »

I was thinking about trying to use lamin-x tint on my fog lights and tail lights and I was wondering how hard it is to do it yourself

Easy to do. If I can do it...

If you search for pics of my car, or Nos4Blood70's car, they both have Lamin-X'd fogs. My car has Lamin-X on almost every panel, lol.

Now is it pretty much like a sticker or does it apply like window tint?

It's more like a tint in terms of application. You spritz water on the surface and squeegee out the air bubbles, once the water's out, the adhesive's strong, but is removable. Though I've never had the occasion to remove mine.

The fogs are a really simple job and you'll probably get it done in under half an hour including getting them on and off the car. That stuff really sticks. Gobs of heat and salt and the Lamin-x is looking like I put it on yesterday.

No template needed. I just put it on as a square and cut it to fit with the knife they supplied.

Actually one more question of I was to go with the spray tint like the VHT nightshades what grits of sandpaper should I use? And what should I use to buff the clear coat after its wet sanded?

I'm not incredibly versed on VHT, I've used it, but not extensively. Someone else should chime in with specifics. ;)

I wouldn't use VHT on the foglights, the whole point of them is to be able to see...

On my car I just cleaned and sprayed them with VHT, lol. No sanding or clear, but now they're fading. I don't mind it, but it's all in your tastes...

I got these for my fogs. Went on great and they were a perfect fit:

"Nissan Sentra (00-03) 4.5" Round Fog Light Vinyl Film Covers by LAMIN-X Yellow"
Stone Beige Metalic 98 SSE, Clear Corners, Pretty much stock to this point.
