I met up with ddalder and we hooked up his Tech2. To his surprise(and mine) it was discovered that I have an OnStar module hooked up. He was able to query it and it was working, he got a part number for it and some other info too.
Does anyone know where the jack would be for the antenna? Darcy suggested it may be under the rear deck, but he isn't really familiar with the older H bodies.

If you have an older H body, the OnStar is analog. OnStar will not support the old technology (because the cell phone companies it has contracts with don't). If you managed to stumble on an analog cell and called OnStar to subscribe, they ask for your VIN and will decline service when they discover you don't have the proper equipment (assuming you can get that far into the process).
If you want OnStar, visit their web site and find out if you can get an upgrade for your car. If one is available, they will probably upgrade it for the cost of a year subscription (plus a $15 handling fee).

I know about the freq change with OnStar and even if I could upgrade, I have no desire to have OnStar. The thing is I have no button's or mystery plugs inside the car that would have led me to believe that there was an actual OnStar module installed in the car.
I'm wondering where all the equipment for the stuff is hidden.

Well do you have any antenna? somewhere? It could be a little dome..or just something on the dash...but usually its on the roof so that you get the best signal.
I have Analog/Digital OnStar in my truck, it has a upgrade package available that would have to be done if I wanted service...but I don't think it goes much older than 2003 for those upgrade packages. I obviously don't have mine hooked up...I've yet to find a reason to need it...I still really don't understand the real need for it..besides things like remote unlocking and airbag deployment 911 and such...but thing is...I only lock my doors with my remote to make sure I never lock my keys inside, but hell, I never locked my keys inside any of my bonnevilles either...and the only one that had keyless was the 98.
If your car has the option available in that model year, chances are you have the basic equipment...probably so that it could be added as a dealer package later if necessary.
