Thank goodness I took it in the Windshield....

Post by vogie01 »

Took a rock from a semi-trailer that I was behind this morning on my way to school. Great first day fun. It could of been worse. It was as loud as a shotgun and freaked me out. I bet it would of been some decent body damage.

A couple years ago I had a boulder (seriously, huge. I have no idea how it got airborne) hit about that close to the A-pillar on the passenger side in the lower corner in my Maxima. I don't know how it didn't come through the windshield. Totally spidered the entire passenger side.

Yup that definitely sucks.

I also had that happen to, it was a rock about 3/4" around. All of the sudden I saw the rock coming, but could do nothing about it and CRACK! Great big ol' crater, next few bumps and the sunlight had the thing spider webbed across the whole windshield. :bluetwitch:

Do you have insurance coverage that provides windshield replacement with no deductible?

Luckly i have full coverage with a $0 glass deductible. My rep told me to drop the coverage due to the age of the car but i kept it due to my lacking medical coverage and the fact i am always in the car.

New glass on Friday morning, no cost to me!

No HUD here. I asked how much one cost with the company I went with. She gave me a weird noise on the phone and said, "A lot, do you really want to know?"

When I had the HUD windshield put in my 00, it was an over $800 insurance job.

But when I need to pay out of pocket, I can get them for $250 installed from Safelite... really depends where you go.

Nice. I had a license plate come flying at mine just a couple months after I bought it. Scratched up the hood and the windshield glass.

That's called using your head, and not listening to the so-called "experts". Glad to hear it's being covered.

Ones when standing at red lights in München (Munich), Germany, I heard the big "BOOOOMMP" (or something like that). The co-drivers window was open, and when I looked at the floor in front of the seat, I saw a rock big as my hand! I have no idea where it come from. Maybe an airplane? Maybe some nearby explosion? The most mystical part is that this rock was BIG, and still it didn't do any damage to the floor ... I think. I never removed the mat to check. :P I was just dam..n happy the window was open, and that it hit the co-driver side - and when no one was sitting there.
