17" wheels on a GXP?
17" wheels on a GXP?
Does anybody know if aftermarket 17" wheels will fit over GXP brakes?
Re: 17" wheels on a GXP?
OK... let's start with factory 17's. I know that the wheel ID can vary depending on who makes them. Will factory 17's fit over GXP brakes?

Doesn't repins have some aftermarket 17's for winter tires?

Yes, the OEM Bonneville 17's (at least the chromies) will fit over the GXP brakes, and SOME aftermarket 17's will fit. We have Elbrus I07's (IIRC) for winter duty on my dad's GXP.

Re: 17" wheels on a GXP?
Yes and no. With a bit of effort I was able to find a 17 that would fit for winter use.
I scored a set of almost brand new 17" 2005+ Mustang steel wheel complete with Michelin 235/55/17 snow tires. The rim did not clear the caliper at all. No chance whatsoever.
I then tried to use my 17" 2005+ Mustang GT "Bullitt" style rims on the GXP - used to have these on the 1995 SSEi - they didn't clear because the thickness of a stick-on wheel weight was enough to hit the caliper. We're talking MILLIMETRES of contact here.
To my understanding, many OEM GM 17" wheels will fit. Because I couldn't find any used sets locally, I had my tire guy source a set of wheels that he knew would fit based on previous experience with Grand Prix GXP's with similar size brakes. The RTX "Zen" wheels (generic Chinese-made alloys) cleared no problem. A lot of people actually seem to prefer it when I run them, but I still like the stock 18's. Test fit before buying!

Thanks a lot for the replies. I was actually looking at Elbrus I05's for the LeSabre (which I intend to put GXP brakes on). Maybe I will just play it safe and go for the 18's. How much difference in performance can there actually be?
