Some questions.
Hey guys. So I'm pretty set on getting an Intense FWI in the upcoming weeks, but I have a couple of questions. I know that the engine will sound a little weird while it's cold with the FWI but once it's warmed up and I'm just driving around town will there be a noticeable difference inside the cabin?
My other question is whether these intakes are safe for rain and wet conditions. My dad claims that I will have problems driving the car when it is raining.
Last FWI question I have is can it improve gas mileage?
And another question unrelated to FWI's. Should I remove the insulation that is attached to the underside of my hood? Is there a benefit?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Some questions.
It may be a little louder, but not much, and only during acceleration.
Nary a problem here after 2 years full-time in MN with rain, snow, etc. These cars have a good splash shield underneath that protects the filter quite well.
That's up to you, I removed my hood insulation because it was falling apart, but there isn't any real performance benefit that I've noticed. However, removing the engine cover, if you haven't, allows heat to escape from where you don't want it, the intake.

Show me a person that claims a FWI will suck water in, and I'll show you a fool that doesn't know what he's talking about.
Nothing personal against your Dad, but there are more than a few dozen running them year-round around here with no issues, myself included, and I run mine LOWER and MORE EXPOSED than the 2k they're designed for.

It'll be louder. But not in an offensive way.
Yes, cold idle will get some looks! I miss that sound a bit sometimes...

Re: Some questions.
Better mileage by maybe 1mpg if you keep your foot out of it.
Better horsepower at WOT, and snappier throttle response.

Re: Some questions.
Pertaining to the splash shield- My car had it removed before I got it... I am looking into buying the FWI as well. Should I have to worry about anything? Or is there a person in here that has spare parts for sale?

Re: Some questions.
I'm sure harofreak00 has some, but shipping would be a pain. I'd look for one at a salvage yard. You'll also notice better handling at speed, as there will be less lift on the nose.
Bye Bye:
