new member and new owner of bonneville

Post by rayray »

hello guys i am a new member on here and just recently bought my first bonneville. i have so many cars in the past it is crazy you name it i have owned it.lol. im a mechanic by trade and live in arizona in the dry heat. yes its 115 today.lol. anyways a lil about my bonneville. i was looking to pick up a car to drive for cheap and as i was on my way to look at another car i saw this 97 bonneville se sitting along side the road with a for sale sign in it. we turned around and went back just because it looked to be in really good shape. well we got there and it said 1000.00 obo so we called the lady and she came down and we checked it out i got it for 750.00 it has a new a/c compressor new front struts good tires and brakes motor was replaced with only about 35,000 on it. new water pump. belts and lots of other things. it just needs a few minor interior pieces but nothing ripped or torn or stained. the paint and body were in really good shape. she did have a small accident in the front which chipped the bumper. at first i was just going to drive the car till i found something better but i drove it around and back home and well its a very nice car very comfortable for me im 6,4 and runs great. the best part is the gas mileage it is amazing for such a big car. anyways it looks like she is winning me over.lol. here are a few phone pics to give you an idea. thanks ray.

Hey!!!!!

Welcome from another Arizona member!!! Where in Arizona are you at? Not too many of us here, but a couple of us are active. Since you are a mechanic and would likely do most of the work on your Bonneville, I have the factory service manuals if you ever need to borrow them. I have done a fair amount of work on my Bonneville (including an engine swap  ) and have a few tips I can share if you ever need some help.

Hopefully we can meet up some day to just say hi or work on the Bonnevilles or we can go junkyarding (after summer is over and it cools off a bit...like...in November :beerchug: )

Welcome to the forum...

I bought my 95 Bonneville as an off lease Gm buy back kind of deal... Was a National Rental Car... My intent was to keep it 1 year... Well I still have it and still love my poor beater... :beerchug: doing 20-22 in town and 28-32 on the road is still impressive from such a large car....

thank you all for the welcome. and yes i am very surprised with this bonneville. im not a huge g.m. or american car fan as i have owned some real bad ones in the past. but this bonnie seems to be in pretty good condition for her age and mileage. of course she was well taken care of and that always helps. and i am located in casa grande right now but hopefully will be moving up to phoenix soon. and yeah i would really like to get together sometime and tinker with the cars or go junkyarding, "but can we wait till december". loll. it has been extremely hot down here for sure. well again guys thank you for the welcome.

well i have driven her quite a bit now and ive gotta say i am loving the bonneville she is just a very nice riding handling and running car. im very happy with her and looks like she will be staying in the family for quite awhile. i have not one complaint yet. well except i wish the would have made the interior pieces a lil better quality but hey they can be replaced.lol
hope you all had a safe and fun 4th of july.
