MAP sensor questions?

Do you have you guys have a diagram for the vacuum line system for the MAP sensor. I had my code reading today after replacing the MAF sensor and the car does not stall anymore with the MAF plugged in. So I assume its the MAP sensor. The problem is that I have no clue what it looks like or if the sensor is bad. Pics would be appreciated. Oh and I have 2000 SSEi. thanks

Does your boost gauge work properly? The MAP reads to the boost gauge, so if that works, then it's not the MAP. It's a small black box behind the S/C with an electrical connection and a vacuum line leading to it.

My boost gauge works to my knowledge. I only get around 3 1/2lbs of boost with full throttle and I run premium gas too.

Then it might be your MAP, or a vac leak. It's held on to the S/C with a bracket, follow the vac lines, it's a rectangle, roughly .75 by 1.75". Have you inspected all your vac lines and used some carburator cleaner to test and see if the idle improves?

There are no apparent leaks in the system, and I apologize for the return time on this, I work midnights and this is the first night I have had off in a long time... But how do you know if the map is bad or not? Plus I know I have a coolant leak, probably a bad intake manifold gasket. What kind of gasket set would you recommend for the SSEi? Thanks again.

I recommend Fel-Pro gaskets. You'll need a plenum gasket (what it's called, for the LIM to the S/C), Lower Intake Gaskets (the newest design aluminum ones, or the GM Aluminum ones), Throttle Body Gasket, Coolant Elbows (sold by Dorman in the "HELP!" section at all parts stores), and I recommend replacing your valve cover gaskets, as the rear is much easier to get off with no intake or S/C in the way, and they're prone to leaking. You'll also want to flush the dex-cool out and replace it with a Mixes-With-Any style coolant.

Leaking LIM gaskets will definitely be a vacuum leak and you'll lose boost. Be sure to change these ASAP, and if it's leaking into your oil drain it ASAP. Don't run the car while they're leaking, as you'll either hydro-lock it or destroy the bearings due to coolant and water in the oil.
