Tint!

Post by redwingsfan34 »

Got the windows tinted on the GA today. 20% all around with a 20% windshield eyebrow.
I love the way it turned out, and I think I got a decent deal on it. $150 for everything, with a lifetime warranty.

Still not 100% on the eyebrow, so if it doesn't grow on me it'll be coming off. And the tint didn't really stick all that great to the dots at the top of the back window, which i guess the tint guy said it never really does. But it's a heck of a lot better than i could have ever done.

Don't mind my over the line parking, there's only one other guy that parks in that line of like 12 spots so i take up a little bit of the end spot :P

I'm still trying to figure out how much longer I'm going to keep this. With the new job, i want to have it paid off in a 4-5 months. And then maybe start looking at something new. Still up in the air what i want to replace it with, or if i even want to replace it. So right now I want to get it paid off, maybe start fixing some of the cosmetic flaws (spoiler, trunk, and hood, and rear bumper are my main areas). And see where I'm at once it's officially mine and not the banks.

Looks good!! Sounds like a really good deal to me. $160-$200 for a Bonneville to get tinted around here, and the windows are about the same size on your GA.

You will get use to the eyebrow. It comes in nice on sunny days, and in the winter on a bright day with snow on the ground.

Looks good! I paid around $270 for my tint and a lifetime warranty. But most places do charge extra for the extra vent window on the front doors. But the guy who did it did a great job, haven't been able to find a imperfection to this day. My friend just paid a little over $200 the other to get his Trailblazer done and they did a *shoot* job - i noticed a few bubbles, tint was cut to short around some edges, I just don't feel like telling him he got ripped

Had it for a couple weeks now... Glad I got the eybrow, i really like it.
I also got the tint to stick on the "dots" i just went back the next day with my own squeege, and smoothed it all out.
Have only found a couple very small imperfections, so overall i'm very happy.

Right now i'm working on trying to get some stock chrome GT rims for it, a buddy of mine's parents bought a wrecked GT a while back to fix and drive, one of the rims was bent, so they took them all off, and got steel wheels, I'm trying to see if they'll sell em to me for cheap. Eaiser to find one rim than 4...

Your tint looks great! I had 20% done all around on my Caddy a long time ago (even though it was illegal here) and it always looked very nice. Didn't do the eyebrow though and when I get my Bonnie tinted, I'm not sure if I should (it looks kind of weird). If I do, I'll have the graphics shop put "PONTIAC" across it probably.

As for the GT wheel upgrade, I'm in support of that. I personally think they are the only good-looking wheels on Grand Ams.

My brother does window tinting for a living. I remember the old days when people would put there favorite sports team in tint, we had rock bands. My brother had Metallic on the windshield of his IROC and I hand Anthrax on the back of my 71 Riviera. We would scan the logo then enlarge to the size we need it. Put it on the inside of the window then put the tinit outside to trace it.

Don't worry about it not sticking to the dots. I don't think the best installer in the world can make them perfect.

Teaser!

Not the rims i thought they were. For some reason i thought they were the other style. But hey, I'm not complaining I got a really good deal on them.
Now I'm just on the lookout for a fourth.
Image

And:
Image
Yup GT front bumper! :) Got it from the same people who had the rims. The guy on the left, my good friends dad, drives a grand am. Hit a deer, and got this bumper thinking he was gonig to fix it himself. But insurance paid to replace it so he gave it to me. Thats right, it cost me $0. Can't beat a deal like that. And his son, my good friend graduated from the local college here for body work, so I told him if he has some free time and wants a little extra cash, I'll pay him to repaint it (it needs it). Otherwise I'll have to see if i can find a good deal at a bodyshop

And i also got pulled over and got a fix-it ticket for my tint yesterday. Stupid Alpena, and Memorial day weekend. So unfortunately the tint on the front will be coming off. I knew it would happen eventually but not this quick. I had the tint on my blazer for over a year, before my sister got pulled over in it.
