2002 SLE Passenger Water Leak

Post by goochman »

I wish I found this Forum before - I dont think the Titanic took on as much water as my '02 Bonneville.

After numerous attempts to fix all the leaks the mechanic found the driver and passenger drain tubes for the sunroof had come disconnected and that seemed to fix everything.

1 year later I recently found a pool of water on the passenger side of the car (front and back) - I decided I was going to find the leak on my own - after pulling the carpet and the A/B pillars I didnt find anything that looked like a drain tube. I found this topic which shed alot of light on the issue:

However the picture for the front drain tube are for the driver side - I have a 'rubber mat' on the passenger front side also however there is no tube behind it - I pretty much pulled it back to look behind and nothing but metal - that must mean the drain tube is behind the glove compartment???

I did a water test for all 4 drain holes. The other 3 drained properly 0 the front passenger did not. I have a sneaking suspicion my mechanic made his own drain hole when fixing the problem since there does appear to be some water dripping from under the passenger front of the car - however it comes down about mid way on the front passenger door. There does appear to be a black tube that runs under a black strip from the front footwell.

Anyhow - any thoughts on where the front passenger drain tube should be/exit appreciated!

Don't forget that the door panel water reflector sheilds that come unglued can also be the cause of water in the carpets. I reglued all my sheilds - they all ended up failing at certain points. Check both front then back sheilds.

Yeah, the Sunroof drain tube on the passenger side isn't too easy to get too, it's up there where your pinky right toe would hit if you kicked up.
I had to get under there standing on my head to get at and split open the rubber that covers it. I made sure the new clamp would not come undone....
