IIRC my Buick shifted from 1-2 at about 4500 RPM under WOT before it got an Intense PCM. That raised the shift point higher, so I top out at 5950 RPM on a WOT 1-2 shift. It was quite a noticeable difference in WOT shift RPM. That raised shift point didn't do a whole lot for me until getting a ported LIM.
It might just be an L36 thing that GM did with the volume models. Or maybe somebody swapped a Bonne PCM with a LeSabre PCM. There are a few things in the LeSabre tables that aren't in the Bonneville tables. Transmission settings are different for starters.

Re: Rev Limiter
It's not as easy as swapping a LeSabre PCM, Dave. It's not a direct swap, as a lot of the body systems are different and the class 2 data bus would have a fit w/ a different VIN in the PCM.

Re: Rev Limiter
Ahh, so it's not as easy as it is on a previous generation car like mine.
