2005 SLE Headlight Assembly

Post by redbaron05 »

I'm looking for both headlight assemblies for a 2005 SLE which actually looks like a GXP and takes many of the same parts. I can't seem to find them....does anyone know where I can get them for a reasonable price?

SLE still uses the standard SE/SLE/SSEi headlight, not the GXP headlight.

What is wrong with your current set?

05 sle ed, the gxp body minus the wheels and exhaust tips.

Good luck finding them, bonneville headlights are hard to come by and gxp lights are even more so

They look like regular 00+ headlights to me...

Swampthing, I've worked on several. They don't have the HIR's and they aren't smoked. They are the standard Bonneville headlight.

However, I still want to know WHY he thinks they should be replaced. If they're just hazy, you can fix them for cheap, you don't need to replace them.

I need to replace them because they leak, they're cracked and otherwise looking kind of beat.....we already sanded them down and polished them. I just found out that the 2005 SLE although looks like a GXP, it takes standard Bonneville headlights. I'm told that the difference is that the GXP headlights are tinted or have a smoke tinge to them to make them look sinister! I like crystal clear.....

The GXP also has HIR high-beams, not 9005 bulbs.

i know the sle in 2005 according to sylvanias replacement guide uses 9005 bulbs in the highbeam just like previous years. however, in this 05 sle, i bought silverstars for it based on what my 03 sle takes and the high beams bulbs were not the same. they looked different and the 9005 would not seat into the housing without trimming the bulb tab a little. so either it has gxp lights in it. or the sle and gxp are the same. either way the clear not gxp lights fit in it and look fine, and thats all that matters.

Are you sure you didn't put them in the low beams?

im positive. i installed the 9006 in the low with no problem and the 9005 in the high after modifying the bulb a bit.
