replacing fog lights
I just bought my 2005 Bonny GXP, it has 24,000 miles on it. So far have replaced a light every other month it seems, head lights, tail lights but now FOG LIGHTS. Ok I have done my own car maintenance for 35 years but replacing the fog lights is unblievably hard. Do you really have to take the whole front bumper cover off to do this? I have the headlight assy out and can get my hand down there quite easily BUT the light has a single wire and some type of steel clip holding it in place? I can't see it, can only feel it ? HELP !!!! HELP !!!! I don't want to pay someobody to put lights in for me, what am I missing here???

Re: replacing fog lights
It is helpful to put your cell phone down there to take a picture of it so that you know what you're looking at. Don't take the bumper off. You have to release the metal clip from the hook on the back of the foglight and then swing it out. If for some reason you really get stuck, you could remove the whole foglight and take a look at it which is pretty easy once the headlight is out.

Re: replacing fog lights
Yeah it's a really weird setup. The Bulb is an H3, just so you know.
The fogs on these cars are the bane of every 05 SLE and GXP owner. They are a royal pain and always burn out.

Here, read this. It will answer ALL your questions on them. Stuff like WHY they burn out constantly. How to change them. How to fix the housing/ground wire. How to modify them to at least double the bulb life (which was normally about a month in daily usage).

I almost think this thread should be a sticky in this section, and be mandatory reading for every GXP owner.
I still want to find the engineer who designed this setup and kick him square in the nutz! And I don't even own the car anymore...

Re: replacing fog lights
I got tired of changing the bulb every 2 weeks so i ordered an HID kit and it's going on 9-10 months with no problems.. I also found it easier to just take the whole fog assembly out to change the bulb. But i have changed it without taking it out it's just alittle hard to do if your not familiar with the H3 bulb set up...
