got a topper for my truck

Post by harofreak00 »

Was at one of the local yard wandering around looking for parts for my projects, and I stumbed on this...

Image

Asked how much they needed for it... "75 bucks"...

This is what my truck looked like when I got home.

Its got a very interesting hinge setup for the door, never seen one like it before. You can open it the normal way with the gas struts (didn't get a picture because the struts are shot), but then you can slid the whole door forward and rest it on the top of the topper.... completely out of the way.

For $75, I'm very pleased. I can finally keep the snow out of my bed. Will make long trip a lot easier to pack, and I won't lose bumper covers on the street anymore!

Still need to find a flush mount toolbox now...

Awesome score!!

If the truck is still there in the spring, you should go back and grab the running boards

Not sure that I like the look of the running boards... I'll probably just slap on some mudflaps instead.

Your also increasing the resale value of the truck and trucks can get better MPG with a topper on to cut down the wind resistance!

that is really nice and a great price - I too am amazed at the color match!!

We bought one for our previous truck - hubby built a bed in the back and put a mattress on it (from a fold out sofa) and then we stored our stuff under it. - we had a boot between the cab and the back of the truck. very comfortable bed too, i miss it on long trips!!

Looks like it will do the trick - keeping snow out!! which twould appear to be a big job where you are!!

I'm usually not a camper shell fan, but that's one of the better looking shells. Nice score.

I like caps when they flow with the truck and are relatively paint matched, like this one. The generic, black corrugated toppers are ugly and don't fit on any truck, IMO.

Ya, when done right they're not as bad. When I bought my Sonoma it had a really nice body-matching cap. I still sold the cap the day I bought the truck. lol. Never been a fan of them.

Nice find indeed Andrew.
A family friend owns a topper store and $75 for that lid is an incredible deal even used.
