Keyless Entry Remotes

Post by 2002BonnevilleSE »

After questioning a few members about replacement remotes and finding as usual I just missed a few that sold I found this site http://www.keyless-remotes.com/StoreFro ... es:Pontiac
has them. Plus GM transponder keys.
From what they told me I'd have to take the remote to either the dealer or a good locksmith and have it progammed.

Depends on the year. I've programmed several late '90s Oldsmobile and Cadillac remotes myself (actually, you're programming the car to respond to the remote). I understand the ones from the 2000s are a little more complicated and require an OBDII scan tool.

For the '00+ Key FOB you will have to take to a dealer to get programmed. The keys themselves can be programmed on your own.

How do you program the key? My 02 Tahoe fobs where easy to program myself. I only got one key with my car.

Here's how to program the key: http://www.pontiacbonnevilleclub.com/fo ... d=newposts

Fob needs a Tech II, which generally only GM dealers have.

Depends on the dealer and/or your relationship with the dealer. Some will do it for free, some will charge you $90 just for a scantool hookup.
