M62 Gen II VS. Gen III

Post by litebulblsc »

I have both generations of m62, just want to make sure I know which one is which.

Gen II from 92-93 Bonneville have the ribs that end half way down, whereas Gen III from the 94-95 Bonneville have the ribs that go all the way down correct?

And if this is in fact a Gen II, how much would it be worth, without the pully?

What you have pictured is a Gen 3. The ribs go all the way down on the Gen 2. It looks very clean. Is that grey rotor coating intact? If it spins cleanly with no grinding or play, I'd ask $125-$150. If it's freshly rebuilt, maybe $300...?

What size is the pulley? You could probably get $50 for it alone.

What concerns me is how clean the rotors are. Who cleaned them, and what did they use? The answer to that could very well spell doom for that supercharger. If you don't know the answer, and can't find out, I'd do a full rebuild on it before using it.

There is a little bit of black junk on them. This thing still has spotless factory finis on the outside. I think it is very low mileage.

I assure you, that supercharger has been cleaned. I know. I tear mine off once a year (every 2500-5000 miles). That supercharger has less than that on it, or it's been cleaned.
