Delayed exit lighting (Archon ol' buddy ol' pal haha)

I figure you're probably the guy to pose this question to: Apparently the 01-03' Olds Aurora's doesn't have the delayed exit lighting found in virtually any halfway decent vehicle for the past 20 years. Even my 92' Crown Victoria had it! I really liked having the headlamps stay on for 30 seconds or so until I got in my front door. Interestingly, the 95-99 Aurora had that feature, but it was somehow deleted in 01+. According to the Aurora forum guys it is not an option on 01-03'.

Is it possible to swap in whatever module of the BCM that acts as the Lighting Control Module from a Bonneville to gain this functionality, or am I totally SOL?

It just shocks me how this car is supposed to be the highest end H-Body, yet lacks delayed exit lighting AND true dual zone climate control, both of which even my Bonneville SE have. The passenger temp control on the Aurora is a simple dial to alter the air temp, whereas the temp control on the Bonneville allows the passenger to set a specific temp...making it a lot more accurate and easier to maintain a comfortable temp.

Anyway, hopefully there is some way I can gain this extremely common feature they left out of a $35k luxury car...

So, all you really want is to have a set delay for the headlamps after the car is shut off? I'd have to do a little investigation, but I think that would be more easily accomplished with an external circuit. Otherwise it would mean working with the instrument panel module which works with the twilight sentinel and the variable resistor to tell the dash integration module how long to keep the lights on, depending on the resistance setting. You could try a junkyard IPM and DIM to see if they would work and perhaps have a fixed resistance for the IPM for the delay. I'd have to see how similar the Aurora's modules are to the Bonneville's.

Does the Aurora use all 4 headlamps for the high beams, or does it just use the 2 high beam lamps? The reason for the question is that an external circuit would likely leave the low beams on for that pre-defined period when you switch to high beams.

That's exactly what I want - about 30 seconds of light. The Aurora does use all 4 headlamps for high beams. There is no Twilight Sentinel, in the traditional sense in an Aurora. In fact, there isn't even a dial for adjusting it on the dash - however, in the DIC there is an option for "exterior lights timeout", but that only affects the lights when you unlock the vehicle.

I just so happen to have a donor 2001 Bonneville to test an IPM / DIM swap...where are these modules located?

The DIM is near the blower motor.

The IPM, and this is where there may be a problem, location depends on which system. RPOs CJ2 above the accelerator pedal, and C67 where it is part of the HVAC control head. The IPM also controls the HVAC system so let's hope that the donor is similar.

I have some interest in this as well, although for a different reason. I am doing a HID projector retrofit on my GXP. When I unlock the doors at night, the headlamps flash a few times, which is not something you want to do with HID bulbs.

I plan to use a relay to keep the headlamps turned on for 5 seconds or so after they are turned off. I found this on a web search: http://www.wolstentech.com/products/tim ... yrelay.php
There may be cheaper or better ones out there as well. But I believe this type of relay could be wired to the headlamp relay under the hood to keep the headlamp relay activated for a set time after it was turned off.

IIRC, there is a setting to either turn the headlights flashing when you unlock on or off somewhere in the DIC.

That, and you can disable your DRL's, which are what actually flash. My car only flashes the parking lights w/ disabled DRL's.
