Supercharger removal

Post by charged »

I was just wondering since our Bonnies still got the Dex Kill and she's getting a few miles,75xxx about doing the intake gaskets. Is there anything I should be aware of while taking that off? Any tricks,or what sort of speacial tools would I need to get?I probly wont be doing it right away but I would like to be prepared. It looks pretty involved. Ive done engine and tran. swaps so Im familiar with tools, but this is about 20yrs or so newer than those cars...thanks

Once you get everything out of the way, it simply unbolts and removes as one unit. You can leave the throttle body on while removing it, but I would highly recommend removing the TB and cleaning it while it's off the car.
Bye Bye:

Remove the 10mm bolts, and lift straight up. Very simple.

The fuel rail is held down with 4 - 10mm nuts, and 1 - 13mm bolt on the top. You don't need to remove the rail from the line, you can just move it to the side. Just pry up the rail/injectors as one piece, will take some force as the injectors are usually stuck pretty good. Release the clips that hold the fuel rail to the firewall, and move the fuel rail to the driver side of the engine bay.

If you do need to remove the rail from the lines, you'll need the special tool

Or leave the rail connected and just tie/push it out of the way.
