so here is my next set of numbers 308kms with just a little bit over E, I put in 34.217 liters of gas and the grand total is 36cnd.
well my p0442 is back so I guess its not the vacuum line I sealed up, any thing I can help narrow this down?

Resetting the iac well on my 96 caprice there is a method to resetting it I would have to look it but some thing like key forward gas peddle half way down start car turn off and then its reset not sure if the h-bodys had a similar way of doing it.

11.1 L/100km, or 21.1 mpg. That's actually the same as my average for mixed dense urban and highway driving.

...as some of you know, I've only had mine for about two weeks. First tank of gas netted 18.77 MPG, about 50/50 highway vs. in town driving. That isn't bad considering that AFTER I burned through that first tank and took that reading, was when I gutted the airbox, put a drop in K&N filter (there was a cheap paper filter in there that needed changed BADLY), PCV valve, and fuel filter. I also checked a couple of the plugs that were easy to get to, and they looked really good. I am very curious to see what my second tank of gas tells me after doing the tune up stuff. Granted, the gutted airbox and new air filter makes it a lot more fun to 'get on it', and...although I try to restrain, I have found myself punching the accelerator "just because" a few times. :) Maybe it will take 3 or 4 tanks to get a good reading.

EDIT: 11/25/10 - my second tank of gas netted 19.6 MPG - still about 50/50 highway vs. in town driving, but with some throttling that I didn't intend on being that I had to follow a buddy of mine in his 2002 Bonneville SE, and he doesn't care about fuel economy. :)

EDIT: 11/27/10 - I went on my first highway road trip today. 212 miles one way. Checked fuel economy and filled up when I got there, and once again when I got back. On the way up, I got a solid 30 MPG. On the way down I got 30.88, may as well call it 31 MPG. I am STOKED about this! That is awesome!!! The whole reason I bought this car (aside from the fact that I loved my other two Bonnies), was way better fuel economy than the Jeep Cherokee, and it's good to see that it's going to pay off as long as I practice good driving habits. FWIW, I was VERY aware of where my RPM's were the whole time, and I made certain not to go above 2000 RPM unless absolutely necessary. According to the tach, I was running about 1900 RPM, and going about 65 MPH. That'll work. I can live with arriving somewhere a few minutes later if I can get 31 MPG!!!! Woo Hoo!!!! :) :bwoohoo:

And my 24.3 has a lot of stop and go in it... There are points where the instant MPG are in the low 40's Thats cruising on flat ground with light throttle.. The minute you blip the throttle it tanks... I have had it down to 3 or 4 MPG...

There is no reason an NA Bonneville should do any less than 300 On a tank... There is something wrong when you are only in the 200's...

18.5 Gallon tank... Car so do at the very least 19 MPG .... Is your engine coming up to temp?

One time when I was coming home from the mountains in my Aurora (may she rust in pieces) and was on a steady downhill slope, I hit the 'instant mpg' button on the DIC and it showed I was getting 93 mpg! That was fun; too bad it wasn't for the whole trip.

How do you like it the UltraGauge? I also would like to know if it can be set up to be used in km's for use in canada, and what sorts of gauges does it let you see under the 97 pcm, as it says they are vehicle dependent
