A question about fuel...
I have ran 93 octane in ours since we got it. The lady who bought it new said the same thing.. My book says 91 is ok, does anyone run just 91 all the time in there L67? Im just wonderin cause I recently moved and the closest 93 is about 5 miles and theres about 3 stations in my ''local'' area. Also,I was at the salvage yard today and was check out the new arrival...a 95'' Buick Riviara. Man thats pretty sweet,I like the styling on those,we were looking for one but ended up with the SSEi.Any way I noticed it just says ''Unleaded fuel only'' on the dash..now I seen its a supercharged 3.8 with my wn eyes, and I even took the badge off the trunk. nowere did it say premium.....I didnt look in the fuel door though.

Re: A question about fuel...
I'm sure it says it on the fuel door. Technically, Premium is unleaded...
I run 91-92 all the time, as there is no 93 around me. I would run 93 if it were only 5 miles away, tho.

Re: A question about fuel...
In the United States it is against the law to sell leaded gas (tetra-ethyl lead - thus the tern "filler up with Ethyl" - used for lubricating the valve stems, guides, reducing spark "knock", and improving the octane ratings http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tetra-ethyl_lead). You have to buy a bottle of it if you have an older engine that has not been rebuilt to run on the new unleaded gasoline. Premium is a term used for gasoline that has a higher octane rating and does not have to have "lead" in it. Octane (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Octane_rating) is labeled as (Research Octane+Measured Octane)/2. -BC

Re: A question about fuel...
I know about the leaded fuel thing and being prohibited and how it lubed everything up better,Im talking about the fact that I didnt see premium fuel on the Riv. ,but it was just odd to me. And thinking about using maybe 91 like the book says, but maybe your right 00beast,its not that far away. I just got to get in a habit of using the same station, and its a bummer it cant be the one right down the road.... I also remember reading that the higher the octane the better milage so....

Re: A question about fuel...
Not really. It prevents detonation, which leads to KR which allows more power and prevents engine damage. That is the benefit of a higher octane.
oldman, this is the second thread I've seen where you just grab a wikipedia link that has nothing to do w/ the OP's question. Not sure your intentions w/ these posts.

Re: A question about fuel...
Riv def runs premium. Any cars(any make) that are boosted, run premium, AFAIK.
