How long do these motors last? What are somethings to look for or ask ?
Thanks to all.
Thanks to all.

Well sonoma_zr2 has 350,000 miles on his 13 second 97 SSEi, and it was a crash that ended it. Same motor as your car.
Look for coolant in the oil, oil and sludge in the coolant, see if the Intake gaskets have ever been replaced. Just look around here and see all the common issues, and check them out.

We have 230k on our '00 SSEi and the only thing that went bad was the transmission, motor still runs strong.

I have 168k and have had a trans rebuild. Motor runs flawlessly, and doesn't burn a drop of oil.rrounds wrote:We have 230k on our '00 SSEi and the only thing that went bad was the transmission, motor still runs strong.

I have 280k on my car. I believe it to be the original drivetrain but not sure.

180,000 on my car and the transmission just went out (and has been subsequently rebuilt) but the motor still runs like a top, never had a single problem with it.

2000 SE: 17" Chrome Grand Prix GTP wheels, Pirelli P-Zero Nero Rubber.
180,000 miles and running smooth

Lanaue, don't be so pessimistic. My trans had to be rebuilt @ 144k, but it was obviously beat on as a post-lease vehicle. silverws6ta's mom has put half the miles on his car, I doubt she ever got past 4500 RPM. They'll last a long time if properly taken care of.

I know, thanks. I just don't want to get a car and have my wife chew me a new we have 4 rides already. I always loved the SSEI's . So maybe I'll use this as my dd and give me Lil girl my sentra. Thanks for taking the time to answer my post. I'm going to see if I can get the car tomorrow. I'll keep you posted.00Beast wrote:Lanaue, don't be so pessimistic. Re: Looking at a 2K SSEI with 130k on it, should I buy it?
The deal didn't happen. He went up on the price $800, because he got a lot of calls. So I found an 2k2 some color burgandy with 125k on it's and it's only $300 more than what he wanted at first. I'm going to get it in the morning.
I can't wait.
