Just lubed my steering intermidiate shaft, What a breeze!

Post by charged »

I have to say THANKS to Archon for the great step by step instructions. :) I wouldve prolly never attempted this, but the directions looked simple, and it WAS. This has been a prob. for about 1 maybe 2 yrs,and my wife is soo happy. Anyone who's putting it off, should give it a shot, its easier than replacing rear plugs.(I think) I used some (well a whole tube) of multi purpose grease,I didnt have any thing heavier. I hope it lasts awile. Thanks again Archon

I'm glad to hear that it worked for you, and that it was easy to follow.

I've been a little nervous about attempting this one, so thanks for the encouraging report!

getting it back in is probly the hardest part, but I did just what he said and pushed it thru the fire wall boot. It takes a little presure but it will go.I tried to do it from inside the car...um..no. wouldnt work. It dont look like theres enough room but there is.Ive got some skinny arms so that helped.I want to say it took me like a little over an hour, that was just being cautious, and adding as much grease as possible.
One last thing, when I pulled it out I thought I was doomed to buy a new one cause when I swiveled the U joints, they made no sound .Niether did the shaft in the up/down motion. Its amazing how that works!....Good luck to all!! :)
