93 driver seat

Post by lackawanna1701 »

After begging the junkyard clerk for MONTHS he had a 95 ssei brought to my local yard. Sooo many questions on what will and won't fit. We will start with the pressing questions.... will my 93 accept the flawless 95 driver seat? The mounts on the 95 are on rails while the 93's aren't. Is there a write up on how to remove these bad boys? What tools do I need?

The SSEi will have the AL7 seats, which I assume you don't.

If you have bench seats already, the seats will be a direct swap... BUT... you will need all the wiring for the AL7 seats, the switch panel in the center console, and also the passenger seat as that is where the air compressor is located. It would be some work, but I don't think it would be too bad.... DEFINITELY worth it though.

I did a writeup a while back on fixing a slow reclining AL7 seat, and at the beginning of the writeup it shows how to remove the seats. http://www.pontiacbonnevilleclub.com/fo ... 43&t=12323

That was on my '93 SSEi, but the '95 should be close to the same if not identical.

You will also want the rear seat to match.

Even with power seats, you're still missing key components, and the connections are not a direct swap. A full list (including missing parts from the list above):

1. Seats. They have far more functions than yours.
2. Switch panel with all 9 switches.
3. Compressor under the drivers seat. Not an option, you HAVE to have this to be able to sit in the seats comfortably.
4. Relay box under the driver's seat.
5. Factory schematics for your system and the SSEi (AL7) system
6. All the labor.
7. The entire seat wiring harness(es).

You will further complicate this by trying to do one of two seats, not both. This is a BIG undertaking. Find the right seat and save yourself a ton of time and labor.
